Craft Day with the Mathews!

I have been surprising the girls every once in a while with 'surprise craft days' with some friends of ours. Our first date was with Kati Glock where we decorated pumpkins with glitter (thank you Martha Stewart :) ) And this time was with Jenna, Elisa and Zachary Mathew! We made such beautiful necklaces, which I still wear, and 'crayon discs' (as the girls call them).

Here's the recipe:

-4 crayons each
-break the crayons in pieces of less than an inch
-put a tiny bit of cooking oil in the cupcake tin
-bake at 250 for 4 min
-after 4 min stir with a toothpick
-cook for another 4 min (total of 8min)
-let cool....and enjoy!

I just want to say THANKYOU to Jenna and Kati for providing such FUN crafts and activities to do with the girls! We love it!

National Homemade Cookie Day!

Cookies anyone??
The girls and I have discovered a calendar that is full of fun and uncommon National Holiday's and events. We had fun with National Homemade Cookie Day where we made homemade cookie cutter sugar cookies. See below how lots of hands helped to prepare the delicious cookies!

Our Life Up To Date...

Jeremy and I are currently employed in Dubuque, IA. Jeremy is working for Emmaus Bible College as the Carpenter. He loves it and enjoys managing the wood shop and being able to use it whenever he wants! :) He has already made me a few things...a desk...frames, etc! He has side jobs outside of Emmaus that he is working on. Remodeling, repairing, etc. He keeps himself busy. Opposite of work, he is REALLY looking forward to deer hunting season!! :)

As for me, I am a Independent Educator, which is a fancy way of saying that I am homeschool teacher. A family here in Dubuque (Chavez family), hired me to homeschool their three girls, Hannah (10), Julia (8), and Autumn (5) for the school year. I love it and the girls are great!! Here are a few pictures of my 'classroom' (their basement). This is a reading corner that I created.

This is one angle of the room, where the girls are working.

This is the amazing blackboard that I am so blessed to have down there!

Notice the fire place, this is what is going to keep us warm during the winter! :)

This is Autumn who is in Kindergarten...

Hannah (5th grade), and Julia (3rd grade).

Jeremy and I are also, both currently working with the Youth Group at the church that we attend (ACC). We just got back from an amazing camping trip with the group and have really enjoyed investing in their lives so far!

Graduation has come and gone! Both Jeremy and I graduated Emmaus and have officially decided to stay in Dubuque for a while at least. Jeremy will be working construction and I hopefully will be teaching. We are excited to see what the Lord as for us and are praying that we follow Him faithfully.

This summer, things are still in place with me as a softball instructor and Jeremy finishing up remodeling jobs. Our desire to be involved with the church more, so this summer, hopefully we can get more involved. I will be teaching Sunday school throughout the summer and hopefully working with the Nursery.

The Lord is good and we are thankful for where He has placed us and for what He has instore for us!!

Summer Plans

Things for the summer are looking pretty promising! I got a job as a softball instructor for a good part of the summer. Jeremy is planning on continuing remodeling a couple of the professors basements. This summer, living in Dubuque, will be new and exciting! Hopefully we can get involved in some softball leagues and different ministries. Needless to say, Jeremy and I are both excited to be in Dubuque for a while yet!
